Do you own a dog and/or bring it with you when you visit?

Do you live here and have a dog? If your answer is yes,

then you will need to register your dog in accordance with

our statutes. You will need to provide a photocopy of your

dog passport or a copy of the Cartilla Sanitaria, if your dog

is Spanish! We will also require a photo of your dog for

ease of recognition. This will help us trace the owner if the

event your dog is loose in the resort. Please be advised all

loose dogs found inside the resort are automatically caught

and sent to the dog pound. If the dog is not claimed within

seven days it is euthanised. This is the policy of the Murcia

City Council. The chip will also enable us to identify

owners who do not behave responsibly with their dogs.

Your dog's microchip number will be verified and you

will be given a copy of the rules for dog owners together

with a packet of plastic 'dog poop' bags.

Failure to be a responsible dog owner may result a

denuncia being issued against you:

  • • Please ensure your dog does not make excessive noise,

  • for example, not left barking whilst you are away from

  • your apartment.

• Dogs must be on a lead at all times when on the


  • • Dogs must not be walked on the golf course!

  • • Please remember you must pick up your doggy mess at

  • all times. and put the feces in the non-recyclable bin.

  • • You can bring your dog and a copy of your dog's passport

  • or Cartilla Sanitaria, plus a photo of your dog to the Security

  • Office at anytime.

  • • It is a legal requirement in Spain for dog owners to

  • purchase third party insurance in case of the dog attacking

  • anyone. The cost is about €200.

Important - Any person owning a potentially dangerous dog

(perros potencialmente peligrosos), in Spain, must have an

appropriate license (by law of article 3 of the Royal Decree

287/2002, of 22 of March 2002), and the dog must be

registered with the municipality. Handlers and walkers of

dangerous or potentially dangerous dogs must also be

licensed (article 1, 2 of Law 50/1999, of December 1999).

A license is valid for five years. A muzzle is legally

required to be worn on the dog at all times in public

places. A license is obtainable from Murcia Town Hall.

Any dog classified as dangerous, under the quoted law, are

banned from HRGR under article C of the statues relating to pets.

Dog breeds or any variant classified as dangerous under

the law are:

  • • Doberman (Andalucia only),

  • • Pit Bull Terrier,

  • • Staffordshire Bull Terrier,

  • • American Staffordshire Terrier,

  • • Rottweiler,

  • • Dogo Argentino,

  • • Fila Brasileiro,

  • • Tosa Inu, and

• Akita Inu.
